Societal Stereotypes

In recent months, I have witnessed the different social stereotypes that have fallen amongst our community. All I know is that the color one likes, the extracurricular activities one chooses to partake in, and the way one expresses themselves has NOTHING to do with their gender. Those things are not interconnected in any way. It is foolish for our figures in power or even someone we pass in the street, to put such emphasis on whether or not something is for "boys," or for "girls."
It would be ideal for everyone to understand and respect that a girl can play football if she seeks to do so. Her being gifted at a typically, "all-male" sport has nothing to do with her sexuality. A boy can dance if he so chooses and that does not make him "feminine," because dancing isn't just for females. As someone who is involved in the arts, I know firsthand that the arts is accepting to both genders. There is no room in our society for placing limits on other people because of their gender. We left that way of life behind in 1920, thanks to the passage of the 19th amendment.
Needless to say, I don't quite understand where the stereotypes come from because frankly, they have no significance in truth. If my future children choose to partake in performing arts, I WILL support them. If they choose to play sports or solely focus on their academics, I will GLADLY be their biggest fan. There are no stereotypes that will cause me to lose faith in who people are within.
