Thank God For The Almosts.

"Thank God for the almost. Thank God for the so close. Thank God for the right, not left, I took when I came to them crossroads. For the doors that opened. For ones that slam closed. Yeah, without 'em, where would I be?" - Thomas Rhett

One of my favorite country artists just recently released a new album and on it, there was a particular song that resonated super strong with me. As I listened to the lyrics of "Almost," I could only picture my younger self. If I could only tell her that it GETS better. I'd like to tell her "You don't STAY in the valley. Take time for yourself to let it all out, but not too much time. Be productive. Get up and find your way back to the top." I know and believe these things now but my younger self would have had a harder time with accepting this. Things change, people leave. Time doesn't slow down, we do.

We don't realize how we were or could have been one choice away from living a different life. If my mom hadn't pushed me to open my mind to a theatre class in high school, what would I be doing with my life? Marine biology like I had planned to do? If I hadn't stood up in church and sang in front of everyone, would I have found my musical inclinations like I did? If I hadn't been diagnosed with epilepsy and a spot on my brain the doctors thought was a tumor, would my testimony be as strong today? Thank God for the almosts.

Thank God for that guy that broke my heart, I now know what I deserve. Thank God for those doors that have closed because I'm only reminded that I have only scratched the surface of what's to come for me. Thank God for letting me get to know those friends who have since gained angel wings. Thank God for the heartache, break and skips. I know what love feels like. I know rejection. I know awe, amazement, fear and humility.

Thank God for the almost.

To remind myself of how grateful I should be for the almost, I created a video to always look back on. For everyone's enjoyment and maybe for your own inspiration, click here :
